Vancouver based band Bear Mountain just uploaded this deep house remix of Blackbird Blackbird the other day, and it is great. This has the throwback, old school garage vibe to it as well, which is a huge plus in my books. The Bear Mountain remix is a fair departure in feel from the original, and definitely crafted with the dancefloor in mind.
Make sure to check out Bear Mountain's Soundcloud, there is some really cool stuff in there, in a variety of styles of music - from indie to funk to house, and everything between.
I love it when I get great Canadian content to post :)

Two Rhodes did a fantastic remix of Sab & Keelan's Used to Be. Depending on your style and mood, all of the tracks from this EP are great, so don't limit yourself to just this one. However, I am really enjoying the deep tech and garage vibe that Two Rhodes brought to the table with their remix.
The EP was just released on Xylo Music through Beatport on the 23rd and was premiere'd by Deep Sounds on the 21st. You can pick it up right here.
If you're feeling this, check out Sab & Keelan's Soundcloud, as they have some quality tracks, including the free download Muve that I opened the first Fresh Drops mix with.

Disclosure have recently launched a sub branch of their label Method Records, an imprint that they have said will focus on more underground releases - Method White. The imprint has launched its first release on Soundcloud, Jonas Rathsman, with the evolving deep disco influenced tech house track that is Wolfsbane. The track has already blown up on the play count on Soundcloud in a very short amount of time, so don't get left out of the loop on this one. It will be seeing a digital release as well as a limited run of 12" vinyls.

Here's the inaugural mix that I did for Underground Sound Canada, for what will be a monthly mix. Underground Sound focuses on genres of house music, and so the Fresh Drops monthly mix will consist of a lot of the house music that I have or will be posting on the blog, along with a few extras here and there. This month I started off chill and funky, and slowly made my way into some higher bpm deep house.
Also, don't forget that we also had an exclusive guest mix this month from Jono Cruz, who came in with 50 fiery minutes of Future R&B and Hip Hop. The guest mix is hosted exclusively on the blog, and can be found right here.
Anyway, the first monthly instalment of Fresh Drops with Underground Sound is embedded below. Listen and enjoy - and download if you really like it.

If you've been looking for something different, something that is both unsettling and weirdly melodically satisfying at the same time, look no further. Alexander Lewis has produced a remix of Weird Inside's Just Ask that has those exact qualities. The closest artists I could compare this to would be a combination of Kastle and 123mrk. The percussion, melodic work and intricate drops in this are spectacular. From the happy, muted opening keys, to the continuously panning outro, this remix is a trip the whole way through.
If this is something that you can vibe to, grab the whole remix compilation for free right here, hosted on Weird Inside's Bandcamp page.

Eastside took on both Chris Brown's Loyal and Ed Sheeran's Don't, which resulted in a great vocal cover entitled Ellie. The remix posted below is Ark Patrol's remix of the cover, which is a great indie pop electronica version.

Eton Messy launched this video yesterday, with the quote that Mediate is bringing a little taste of summer. I can't disagree with their simple description, this is sunny, feel-good house music. Just try belting out that hook without cracking a smile - pretty tough to do, if not impossible!
This is still unreleased, but will be coming out on Love & Other Records on March 13th. What You Do will definitely be seeing some heavy playtime in my summer sets. While we're waiting for the official release, enjoy the Youtube stream of the track, close your eyes and let yourself get back to summer with Mediate.

This is a chilled out trap track from Medasin for Mellow Monday. Hey Now works with some funky, jazzy sounds accompanied by a pitched and chopped vocal, all worked together over a laid back percussion section.
If you're digging this, it is available from Medasin's bandcamp page for $2.

This is another label spotlight and free downloads playlist, coming courtesy of Golf Clap's Country Club Disco. This playlist of 11 tracks brings a nice variety of deep, old school and garage flavours to house music, and they're all available for free download. I also featured a few of these tracks on my last mix for Underground Sound Canada, so if you were looking for anything from that mix, this is a good place to start. Make sure to check Country Club Disco's Soundcloud page for more quality releases.

If you've been waiting for something higher energy, but still familiar this week, we've got you covered today. Favulous published a Future House bootleg of the Blackstreet classic No Diggity last week.
This bootleg mostly preserves the instantly recognizable vocal from the original, but pitches it down slightly while starting out with an old school synth. The bootleg then drops into a build and moves fully into Future House territory just past the one minute mark. This is a quick, high energy rework, perfect to try and convince a couple of those folks standing on the wall cause "I don't know this music" to make their way onto the dance floor without completely sacrificing your "artistic integrity" and dropping an original pop mix. It's made even better since it's released as a free download.
If future house isn't your scene and you still want a version of No Diggity to rock to, never fear: here's another free one, a House and Garage version from Phonetix that was released on Riddler Records not long ago and is available here. This one is also a great rework of the track that I've played out a number of times, plus Phonetix is just a legit dude (and sent me a promo copy a while back when I just couldn't wait - thanks again for that by the way!).

I could waste time writing a wordy post about this one, but that would be wasting the precious limited time that this track will be available for Free Download. It's already been up for a few hours, so don't sleep on this one if you have even a passing interest in either Beyoncé or Feki.
Listen and grab the free download in the player below.

We posted one of the tracks from this album, Midnight in Montreal (embedded below) in our Friday Care Package on February 6th. The whole Flamingosis album has now been released and is available free from Keats Collective at their Bandcamp page here. Kahunastyle (a reference to a childhood nickname) brings together hip hop, funk, disco and electronic styles into one body of work, and the end result is great. Flamingosis brings in several collaborators in on this, including Yung Bae on Groovin', A Sol Mechanic on Future Lounge, and Go Yama on Cup of Ramen.
The whole album is full of great tracks, all in easily digestible tracks around 3 minutes long. The short length of the tracks need not suggest that there is a lack of substance here, as that is far from the case.
If you're a fan of hip hop, funk, or just enjoyable music in general, make sure to grab this album now right here.

Annie Mac dropped this on her Free Music Mondays series, so you know it's a great track. Aprés makes use of the iconic house vocal "In the beginning there was Jack, and Jack had a groove..." with an extended intro into Chicago. If you have been around house music for any length of time, you're almost guaranteed to have heard this sample used in some way already.
Chicago starts on a slow build right from the start, using some mellowed background synths and percussion on the slow climb up to the main drop that hits at 1:56. This is a future deep house track with a tasteful throwback flavour that embodies the culture of acceptance and positive vibes in the house music scene.
This is a free download courtesy of Annie Mac and Aprés, so grab it direct from the player below.

This Friday Care Package we did it a little different. Given Valentines Day falls on Saturday, we thought we'd customize the Care Package with this in mind. In an effort to include everyone, we made two 14-track playlists of spectacular new music that centre around both Valentines and counter-Valentines themes. There's great music in both, and likely half of the tracks are free downloads if you dig into the playlists - so we'd encourage checking out both ;) We hope you enjoy, and have a great Valentines Day weekend, however you choose to spend it!
The Valentines theme playlist starts off higher energy, and moves into slower, sexy bedroom beats by the end.
The Anti-Valentines theme playlist goes in house, gets into some trap and hip hop, then back out house.

Endor has come out with a fitting release for the Valentines season, working off of a Michael Jackson vocal sample to bring this great house production. As with most of Endor's tracks, he has released this as a free download.
Kiss Me Baby works off a chopped up vocal taken from Michael Jackson's The Way You Make Me Feel, that is both recognizable but also tweaked enough to be very different from simply adding the vocal unchanged. Endor works his deep house and garage style around the vocal, and the result is spectacular. If you're looking for something fitting to work into a Valentines DJ set, this is the track you've been searching for.
Add it to your collection by hitting the download button on the player below, and check out Endor's Facebook page for tons more of his past work up for free download as well. There are some real gems.

We're going in heavy this Wednesday, cause we know sometimes you just need a boost to get through the hump day. Hospital Records and Drum & Bass veteran S.P.Y. has come through with a dark and driving EP through Skrillex's Nest HQ label. If you haven't heard anything about Nest HQ yet, definitely check them out - they are a label dedicated to releasing great music for free, mostly on the heavier side of dance and electronic music.
As mentioned earlier, Hospital Records is one of the biggest labels in Drum & Bass, and S.P.Y. is a label veteran. So you know anything they're putting out is going to be big, and this EP is no exception to that expectation. The title track sets the tone for the rest of the EP, starting off dark, semi tribal and ominous before dropping into the heavy, old school dnb reese and drums. My other favourite on this is Leave Me Alone, with its unique use of the synth to create both melodic and additional percussive elements.
If you're a fan of dnb, grab these tracks below directly from Soundcloud for free.
As an additional little bonus track highlight, and to show a bit more of S.P.Y.'s production versatility, I'm also including one of his more atmospheric works that I absolutely love. Here it is, S.P.Y. - You. Enjoy.
