Just Kiddin - Thinking About It (No Clue Remix)

I've been salivating over Just Kiddin's Thinking About It ever since #Unknown released it as an untitled track on their Soundcloud page back in the spring (though it no longer exists there - but I'm quite confident they posted it...) and even more so when it was revealed to be Just Kiddin through Eton Messy's release on youtube. In my opinion, the original still kills everything at anytime and was only officially released through Eton Messy in early December of 2014 (pick up the original here), but you can't beat a creative remix, especially as a free download. On this front, No Clue really shines through - this is one of my favourite remixes of this that I have heard. Check it out for yourself below, and grab the free download while it's fresh :)

Vulfpeck - Santa Baby (Woody's Demo)

It might seem a bit late for Christmas songs, but for those of you who were unaware, today is Ukrainian Christmas. In keeping with the Christmas spirit, I am sharing a funky funky rendition of Santa Baby by LA-based group called Vulfpeck. This is probably one of the funkiest Christmas songs I have ever heard.  So Merry Christmas if you are celebrating Christmas today, or keep this in mind for your next Christmas holiday season.

I am unsure as to where or if this one is released anywhere, but if you find it - let me know and I will update this post with a link!

In the meantime, check out other funky releases from Vulfpeck on their Bandcamp.

Mad Villains - The Salmon Dance (Mad Villains' 2015 Revibe)

This is a classic track from The Chemical Brothers that I hope needs no introduction.  This Revibe however - is something new altogether.  Mad Villains comes in hard on this one, reworking the original into a two-step track with deep basslines dropping in around the 1:30 mark to give it the vibe that continues throughout the rest of the track.

The vocals that he maintains from the original ensure that recognizability factor while really bringing the overall track into new territory.  I've heard a couple of remixes of this track over the last while, (notably Wuki's bootleg from his Wuki leaks series), but this revibe really takes the cake out of everything I've heard.

Do yourself a favour and hit the shopping cart button that will take you to Mad Villains' Facebook page.  All you need to do to get this track is like the page and you'll have access to this, along with an older collaboration between Mad Villains and Holt Blackheath.

Montgomery - Pinata (Japanese Wallpaper Remix)

This indie pop track by Montgomery gets an interesting but still very laid back remix treatment from Japanese Wallpaper. Make sure you check out his Soundcloud page for much more like this. The work on his page is quite impressive, especially when you take into account that this is a 17 year old from Melbourne. I'm looking forward to keeping an eye on his productions coming in the future!

Also, in case you hadn't picked up on this yet, this one is a free download - a simple click on the little down arrow with the line under it in the top corner of the embeded Soundcloud page should be all it takes to add it to your collection! :)

James MAC & VALL - Back In The Day [SSR051]

For those of you who don't know yet, I'm a huge sucker for a classic piano driven house track. That's exactly what this tune is - albeit not so much simply a classic sound - it integrates the deep techy garage sound that has been recently gaining more and more traction worldwide that I've been really into the past couple years. The combination of these elements really solidify this track as a dancefloor bomb for me - I'll definitely be grabbing the release on Beatport and you can bet it'll be making it into some of my upcoming sets.

Keep an eye on James Mac on his Soundcloud, and pick up the release from beatport here.

This Ain't Bristol - More Selections [TAB002] (Compilation)

We wouldn't be able to call ourselves freshdrops if we didn't give you all something to download the day of release. We're following through on that today and posting about a great compilation coming from a group out of Germany - This Ain't Bristol. The best part about this compilation - it's great music ABSOLUTELY FREE, and was just released today - January 5th.

If This Ain't Bristol is a new name to you, you may also like to know that this is the second compilation that they have released for free. The first is also a massive release and is still available via their website here.

I could go on about the quality of names and sounds in general on this compilation, or try to pick out some of my favourite tracks, but honestly - it's all great. With artists such as South Soul Project, Hostage and Nick Olivetti featured, and with really creative sample use such as Dead or Alive's You Spin Me Round and Estelle's vocal from Kanye West's American Boy, there's something in here for everyone. Bonus for DJ's and audiophiles - you can choose your download format between mp3 or wav files.

If you like your house deep, techy and bassy, this release is for you. Take advantage and jump on that free download!

For those of you who are more conservative with your streaming rates and would like the more moderate data consumption rate offered by an audio only stream, we are working on having that available for you as well through our friends at Underground Sound Canada and Mixlr.

The Mixlr broadcast will be live here: Underground Sound Mixlr

If one of the streams goes down or experiences technical difficulties we will do our best to have it up and running again as soon as possible! In the event of any downtime, we suggest trying to access the other stream.  Thank you for joining us on our launch date, and we hope you stay tuned!

Bondax - All I See (Darius Remix)

If you prefer your love ballads to have a bit of bounce, this is the track for you.  The Darius Remix of Bondax's All I See takes the tropical feeling original into future house territory, keeping it deep while leaving the vocals to shine through around the synths.

The remix is available with the original and additional remixes as part of the All I See - Remixes EP (UL5649) which was released on Ultra back on October 12th.  The package is rounded out by a spectacularly funky remix by fellow Canadian Pomo, and another house remix by TCTS.

Soundpalette - Questions

Soundpalette has created something magical with Questions.  This one has been out on Soundcloud for a while now, and is up for free download.  Questions is a great mix of elements that are reminiscent of both chillwave and trap.  A melodically emotional journey of a track with percussive elements that maintains the track's energy while retaining the emotional power throughout.  With this one being a free download, what are you waiting for? Click the link above and add it to your digital music collection!

NVOY - You Are

NVOY came back in December with yet another great sounding track - You Are. If you've heard NVOY before, you'll immediately recognize the old school flavour fusion with contemporary future house elements that NVOY seems to effortlessly weave together.  Do yourself a favour and have a listen to the track below, and if NVOY is a new name to you, check out the rest of their Soundcloud page for their previous stellar work.

Vhyce - Be The Same

In my opinion, this track is the standout, best track coming out on Kry Wolf and Food Music's new project, the DNA series.  The whole release is looking to be a powerhouse compilation, and is set to come out on January 12th 2015.  Watch for it, and grab your copy as this is a compilation you are going to want all of.

After hearing the preview of Be The Same, I was intrigued enough to seek out more from Vhyce.  I was extremely pleased that his Soundcloud contained multiple quality releases from the past year.  Having never heard of him before, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and variance that his work contains.

My favourites from the Hard To Find EP (NBR049) were the title track Hard To Find, and Each Time.  The whole EP is up for streaming on his page, with the EP for sale on Beatport.

Lastly, Vhyse really showed flexibility on Stripping Away, the title track of the Stripping Away EP (CLUBSWE018).  Stream the whole track below and pick up the release on Beatport as well.

Real Slow - Things That Remind Me of You EP

Real Slow recently came out with a great EP, up for free download through alayaP..ro Unlimited 's..  My standout picks for this release are definitely Drake Songs, and 1990.  The whole 7 track EP is available for free, and was released December 18th.

1990 has a really warm laid back vibe before dropping into a trap-esque beat that drives the track the rest of the way through.

Drake Songs is a mellow slow burner, but just as catchy.  The track works off of a backing synth and bells that add both melodic and percussive interest, which really works overtop of the beat.

Keep an eye on this Australian producer, if this EP is any indication, there are sure to be more quality tunes coming from down under.  Make sure to head to their soundcloud pages and follow and cop this free release!

Kry Wolf - Citrus (Food Music)

Food Music label boss Kry Wolf comes in hard with Citrus.  A deep, flowing bassline drives the track, with a melodic whistle providing the high frequency interest.  All of this is topped off with a great vocal sample to bring it all together.

Citrus is paired with Education on the EP, and released by Food Music on the 28th of July. An inspired choice for release given the summery vibes that are evident throughout the track.  Sit back an enjoy this one, or let it get you up and moving - it feels just as good either way.

If you like this, make sure to check out the full release here, and check out the Food Music webpage for more releases and merch.
